Do you know where your woodlot boundaries are located? Most owners probably think they  do, but often really don’t. How are your boundaries marked? With blazes and paint, barbed wire, stone walls or just old flagging tape? Maybe a combination of these? Well-marked property boundaries are of critical importance to woodlot management, but are too often ignored.

Merle Ring, recently retired Maine Forest Service district forester will talk about and demonstrate good boundary marking at his woodlot in Otisfield. This Maine Woodland Owners (Western Maine chapter) event is free and open to the public.

Directions: From Norway, take Route 118 west along Norway Lake. Take Route 117 (left) toward Harrison, and at about six miles take a left on Gore Road; at 3/4 mile right on Bow Street. After a mile, at the bottom of a steep hill, is the intersection of Ahonen Road (left.) Continue past intersection on gravel road. Take first driveway on left; signs will be posted. Coffee and doughnuts at 8:30. FMI, Contact: Merle Ring, 743-5976.
