Wardwell Family Forest
Location: Penobscot
Year Acquired: 2018
Acreage: 80
Donor: Ed and Joan Wardwell
Description: This 80 acre Wardwell Family lot lies in the south central portion of the Town of Penobscot between State Routes 166 to the west and 199 to the east.
Key Features: The property was donated to Maine Woodland Owners in 2018 by Ed Wardwell who wished to maintain the lot as a working forest. Wildlife is especially important to Ed so any future management will certainly include wildlife habitat as a primary objective.
The woodlot is comprised of primarily spruce and balsam fir. There are old pastures growing into mixed wood areas on the southeast portion of the property, an 11 acre field in the northeast, and a wetland brook bisecting the property.
